<description>National Engagement is an artificial, undemocratic process, initiated, run and managed by government officials at Communities Scotland.
There is not much participating going on. There is actually more structure building than actual negotiations taking place on issues of importance to tenants. Where I stay, tenants don`t need government officials present at their meetings when they make decisions. We make our own decisions and hold our own elections free from officialdom. We also do not need government officials to write our reports or communicate with other tenants on our behalf. We do all that ourselves. We are also, like tenants in the Western Islands, real tenants, as opposed to unreal tenants.
It would be really nice for tenants engaged in the process to have free, unfettered contact with other tenants across the country. However, I am afraid the government machinery won`t allow that.
Kevin is mistaken in his assertion on me being chosen to represent other tenants. In the artificial world of National Engagement, one only needs to turn up at a government run gathering to become &quot; representative&quot;.
It is also not up to government officials to decide who is representative and who is not, as is the way of National Disengagement.

<description>John you say in your letter there is a need for real tenant participation, why then did you refuse to take part in the National Engagement? This is a real chance to get TP on the agenda yet you refused to take part. This is especially unbelievable as you were chosen by tenants to represent tenants yet unilaterally walked out. We in Region 10 Glasgow and Western Isles are proud to join the National Engagement and the whole Region 10 Steering Committee is made up of real tenants and tenant reps. chosen by real tenants. You had your chance to contribute, you chose not to. The tenants who chose you to represent them had no such choice. TP on your terms or no TP at all?
